On Richmond @ Dundas in London, Ontario

I’m writing this review, not out of vengence, but out of frustration. One thing that sucks ass more than anything is when a place that, by all estimations, should be cool, repeatedly demonstrates itself to be nothing more than a pretentious shithole. The more I go into this shop, the more I hate it. The only reason I continue to go into this shop is because they happen to be the only place you can buy advance tickets for gigs at Call the Office and The Embassy Hotel.

The selection at Speed City is, at best, poor. I have never found what I’m looking for here. Presumably you can order what you need, but the dude who runs the place is such a massive dickhead it’s not worth it when you can just walk down the street and get your CD’s from Grooves or Dr. Disc (these latter two shops are more likely to have what you want in stock anyhow). Seriously, who does this guy think he is?? Rob Gordon?? He’s got the scowl of a scarecrow and the attitude of a sourpuss. The bitterness fairly drips off of him right over the counter and into your humble fistful of $5 bills.

I’m giving Speed City Records a rating of 1 heart out of five only because the dude behind the counter is so consistently rude and condescending he’s made himself good for a laugh.
